Dear Parents and Students,
Sharon and I arrived back in Dakar yesterday, and are “knee deep” in preparations for the new school year. One of our new teachers has already arrived, and DA will be fully staffed by the time school begins. God is good!
There is one BIG change that has occurred over the summer. Ms. Van submitted her resignation due to health concerns. Many of you knew that Ms. Van struggled with various health issues last school year. In spite of that, she was everyone’s favorite elementary principal! It was very difficult for her to decide not to continue in that role; it is difficult for us to think about DA without her.
Ms. Van will be at Dakar Academy the week of August 3. There will be an informal get-together for her. We want to honor her for the wonderful job she has done at DA for 12 years and say a very fond farewell. I will let you know as soon as the plans for that event are in place. Please plan to attend.
Mr. EM (Evans-Maxson) will be assuming the duties of elementary principal. Mr. EM is a veteran teacher. Although he has been teaching secondary classes at DA recently, he spent many years as an elementary teacher. I have every confidence that Mr. EM will maintain the excellent DA elementary program.
Please keep all of us at Dakar Academy in your prayers. We are looking forward to a great school year full of God’s blessings.
